Humane
Society of Etowah County:
Making Room For a Second Chance!
The Humane Society of Etowah
County was established in 1973 as a non-profit, charitable organization
dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief
of suffering among animals, and the extension of humane education
as set forth in the by laws of the Society.
The current shelter facility is in the old city of Gadsden dog
pound, which was formerly a paint shop for the city of Gadsden.
This facility was expanded from the original 10 dog runs to the
present 40 runs, including compartments that house puppies, small
dogs, cats, kittens, chickens, squirrels, opossums, rabbits, guinea
pigs, snakes, goats, and the occasional horse.
Funding from county and municipal service agreements provide a
portion of operating expenses. Contributions play a major role
in the Society's operations and fund the SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance
Program) effort in its entirety.

| Paulding Humane
Society: "Until one has loved

Lily, emancipated and struggling to survive. |
The Paulding Humane
Society Mission Statement:
"To reduce the unwanted animal population in our community
through promoting Spay, Neuter, and Adoption and to support
the needs of the Paulding County Animal Control Shelter and
the many wonderful pets housed there."
Paulding Humane Society
is a group of volunteers working hard to help over-population
and the animals living in the community. They operate in conjunction
with the Paulding County Animal Control Shelter & assist
in providing funds/equipment, low-cost spay/neuter assistance,
& education. They also assist in adoption processes to help
these animals find homes.
The humane society also
assists in funding emergency medical care for injured animals
coming in to the shelter and to those families who otherwise
would not be able to provide their loved pets with needed emergency
treatment. Lily, pictured at left, is a perfect example. Lily
was actually an abandoned dog hit by an automobile shortly before
giving birth to 4 puppies. Amazingly she survived, as well as
her pups. The family who took her in did not have the funds
needed to provide Lily with the hip & leg surgeries she
so desperately needed. Thanks to the community & Paulding
Humane Society this beautiful animal received help and is thriving
today in her new home.

West Georgia
Spay Neuter Clinic: Focusing
on the Root of the Problem |
|
Animal
shelters in the West Georgia area are overwhelmed with unwanted
animals, and consequently have heartbreakingly high euthanization
rates. The purpose of the West Georgia Spay/Neuter Clinic is to
attack pet overpopulation of companion animals by focusing on
the root of the problem—there are too many animals having unwanted
litters.
Serving pet owners and
rescues from surrounding counties, West Georgia Spay Neuter Clinic
is a dream come true of the Carroll County Humane Society. Opened
in 2007, it is now providing a low-cost surgery alternative for
pet owners and saving lives. Donations are crucial for continued
success.
Raised in Villa Rica, Carroll
County, Georgia, Bill hopes to bring much needed donations and
attention to the efforts of the lifesaving work of West Georgia
Spay Neuter

Society of Northwest Louisiana: Help
us speak for those who have no voice! |

|
Humane
Society of Northwest Louisiana:
The Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana
was established in August of 1997 by volunteers to address the
concerns and needs of animals in our area.
How You Can Help Stop Pet Overpopulation
The solution is simple. Getting it done,
however, requires every one to help, this includes you.
The solution is this: Only by implementing
widespread sterilization programs, only by spaying and neutering
all companion animals, will we get a handle on pet overpopulation.
Consider the fact that in six short years, one female dog and
her offspring can give birth to 67,000 puppies. In seven years,
one cat and her young can produce 420,000 kittens. This means
that with well planned sterilization programs, there would be
a dramatic reduction in unwanted animals that end up at the animal
shelters.
Every year, thousands of defenseless animals
become victims of cruelty. Unfortunately, many cases of animal
abuse go unreported, but we can change this problem by educating
and talking with our friends and neighbors about reporting any
case of animal abuse, including neglect or abandonment.
Let’s speak for
the ones who cannot speak for themselves and stop animal abuse
in our community.

Oktibbeha County Humane
Society
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Oktibbeha County Humane
Society, Inc., is to promote domestic animal welfare. The OCHS,
Inc. is based on the belief that the community has the responsibility
to treat animals humanely. The Society's goals include providing
humane education; promoting animal welfare legislation; advocating
and facilitating pet sterilization; and rescuing, sheltering,
and promoting adoption of abandoned animals.
New Program Which Needs
Funding
It is so sad for an adopter
to bond with their shelter dog or cat and then find out it has
Canine Heartworm or Feline Leukemia. OCHS has begun testing
dogs and providing preventative medication for those negative
and hope with additional funding to start testing cats too.
Additional donations are needed to continue this new program.
When you donate you may designate this program, PetPals which
is our spay/neuter program, or general use. Thank you for helping
us help these domestic animals.

How Sash Found A Home
"My name is Abby
Summers and my husband and I adopted a chocolate lab from you
guys early last year. We were just surfing your web site for
potential additions to our family as usual and thought I would
send you guys an update on Sasha. ( I think you guys called
her Hershey.) She is doing so well with our new baby and we
couldn't be happier. Our other lab loves her also. They became
fast friends and now are inseparable. Here are some pics of
Sash. Thank you for helping us give Sasha a good home and our
family an invaluable addition.

for all of our animals until they find a loving home. Promoting
Responsible pet ownership. Providing on-going adoption support
services to ensure a lifetime commitment from pet owners. Eliminating

a Respect for ALL Life!
Dog & Kitty City is
a no kill shelter operated by the Humane Society of Dallas County.
They operate several programs in the community such as Sanctuary
Program & Foster Program. Sanctuary Program gives pets who
are not good candidates for adoption a place to call home. Foster
Program provides animals temporary homes with volunteers until
someone adopts them.
At Dog & Kitty City,
they spay or neuter all of the animals before adoption, as they
believe this policy will help decrease animal over-population.
They also test cats for Feline Leukemia and FIV, and dogs for
heart worm. Both are tested for parasites. All necessary vaccinations,
